The CMO Coach

Can I use my outplacement budget for a coach of my choice?

The short answer

Often, yes, but it depends on your employer and the wording of your settlement agreement. An outplacement budget exists to help you find your next role, and employers are often open to redirecting it to a coach or programme you choose, because the cost to them is the same.

Some participants have funded their Career Fast Track place exactly this way.

Not signed yet? Get it into the agreement

If you haven’t signed your settlement agreement, this is the moment. Ask for the outplacement clause to name Career Fast Track, or to allow a provider of your choice. It’s far easier to agree now than to change later.

Ask before you pay

Policies vary. Some employers allow any recognised programme; others contract a single outplacement provider. Send HR the one-page programme summary and get approval in writing first.

How payment works

You pay me directly: a £200 deposit, then the balance a week before the start. I send you an invoice in your name for the full £800, showing your employer if HR needs it, so you can claim it back. No VAT is charged.

I don’t invoice companies directly, so there’s no supplier set-up, no purchase order and no delay.

Why spend it on Career Fast Track

The majority of participants also had outplacement support, and told me Career Fast Track was far more valuable and effective. It’s built for one audience, senior marketing leaders, and coached by a serving Group CMO who hires them. See how it compares with outplacement.

Career Fast Track is a seven-week programme for senior marketing leaders facing redundancy or searching for their next role.
