With a Master’s in Business, certifications in brand management and Neuro Linguistic Programming, Executive Coaching and Facilitation, I’m committed to continuous learning and personal development. I believe that true success lies in the ability to adapt, grow, and empower others to do the same.

But beyond the boardrooms and marketing campaigns, I’m also a firm believer in the power of creativity, diversity, and inclusion. Whether I’m strumming a guitar, exploring the great outdoors, or mentoring the next generation of marketers, I’m driven by a passion for growth and a desire to make a positive impact on the world.

At the heart of it all is the CMO Coach—a platform dedicated to helping marketers and businesses unlock their full potential. From coaching and mentoring to consultancy and keynote speaking, I’m here to support you on your journey to success.

My journey so far

A continuing journey of personal discovery and growth made possible by all of the great leaders and mentors that I have been lucky enough to have.

1988 - 2004

This is where I started and learned about business and marketing. I refer to these days as my marketing apprenticeship. Its where I learned my craft and developed as a strong commercial marketer. This is also where I learned digital and data driven marketing. Yes, even back then we had digital marketing, all be it via 24k and 56k dial up modems :). I had some of the best leaders and teachers of my career during this period.

2004 - 2005

Left financial services to spend some time doing marketing consultancy in UK & Australia. At the same time I finished my Masters. Consulting taught me a lot about communications, relationship management & problem solving. My biggest learning from this period was that in 99.9% of the cases the employees already had the answer but management wasn't listening.

2005 - 2011

The single greatest development period of my career. Worked globally and had the opportunity to immerse myself in many different cultures and ideologies. Its also when I received the most valuable leadership training as part of Vodafone's executive development program. This is also where I was introduced to Neuro Linguistic Programming. This period defined me as a leader and gave me a truly global perspective.

2011 - 2013

My first time leading the full marketing function and a defining moment in my career. Its when I first achieved truly outstanding marketing success having grown the brand from number 7 to number 1 whilst also building a team of up to 70. At the same time I led the London 2012 Olympic sponsorship. Globally recognised as one of the best ever Olympic activations by Samsung. It is also when I learned about the power of ethics and the importance of standing up to discrimination.

2013 - 2016

What started as a brief to build a new global consumer brand in mobile chipsets soon turned into a B2B marketing job. A tremendous period of personal growth learning how to do B2B marketing whilst also getting deeper experience working in Russia, Turkey, Middle East, Europe and the USA. It also helped me to realise that B2B marketing is not an area I wanted to focus on.

2016 - 2021

A truly transformational period during which I had my first Chief Marketing Officer & Chief Brand Officer roles. CMO for Europe and CBO globally, the first time a westerner had held the role for for a large Chinese brand. I learned so much about Chinese culture and doing business with Chinese leadership inside, and outside of China. Supported by visionary leadership I built one of the best and most successful teams. A team that delivered truly exceptional marketing. Marketing that was renowned and awarded for both its creativity and effectiveness. It was also during this period that I learned how to lead a brand and teams through an existential crisis.

2021 - 2022

A new category and an opportunity to build a new marketing capability to help another leading Chinese company to expand globally. This is the happiest I have ever been in my career. Backed by great leadership with a big vision and the resources to make it possible I built my dream team and the best culture I have ever worked in. It was also a time when I got to deeply engage in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Japan, Russia, Sth Africa & Egypt. And sadly another time lead a team through an existential crisis.

Another category and another opportunity to build a global brand and this time in the face of a pending recession and a category downturn. Excited to be working closely with teams in India & Indonesia as I deep dive and learn more about these countries and cultures. This story is still being written...........

I am thrilled to announce the launch of my two passion projects, the CMO Coach and The Marketing Social. These initiatives represent my efforts to support and empower marketers to achieve growth and success. I am dedicating my time, experience, network, and skills to helping young marketers thrive in their careers. I hope that these projects will make a meaningful contribution to the marketing industry and the professional development of marketers.
